London is incredibly pretty and sparkly this Christmas. So I wanted to make it even more special and memorable this year, and experience a fine dining during festive season. While I was checking restaurants at Bookatable, I have come across this amazing offer: free champagne!

I was actually surprised to see how many restaurants there are with this offer and how easy Booktable made it for us to see the restaurants with this offer! You can have a look at the restaurants here.

It probably took me couple of hours to to choose though, as there are just too many restaurants that I am looking forward to visit, but in the end having heard great reviews about this specific restaurant, we decided to go ahead with Ormer Restaurant.

Shaun Rankin has opened the restaurant, who has received a Michelin star in 2005 for his first restaurant. He held this for eight years until the launch of his second restaurant in 2013 for which he was awarded a Michelin star just four months after opening. His latest venture at Ormer Mayfair continues this celebration in the accolades it has received since opening. It has been voted one of the top 5 restaurants in London!

Located in Mayfair (very close to Green Park station), the exterior atmosphere of the restaurant was very chic, and got us very excited and even more festive (as if that was possible). Before we head to our reserved table, we wanted to look around the restaurant, and actually realised there’s a lovely bar area. Our initial thoughts were “Very elegant, and so luxurious”. This actually accounts for the entire restaurant itself. The elegant table arrangements and impeccable white satin tablecloths certainly conveyed the 5-star feeling. The simple luxury of the restaurant was emphasised even more by the dim lighting. Subtle classical music in the background accompanied the waiter as he was showing us to our table.

We have started with lovely free champagne and continued with delicious Pinot Noir. We have chosen the days special as our starter; Truffle risotto! Oh my, I can still remember the taste and smell of the yummiest starter, which left us for asking for more.

For our main we decided to share Cote de boeuf, accompanied with triple cooked chips. This plate is to share, and even though we were starving it was still very filling for both of us.

Quality ingredients and masterful sauces are at the forefront here. The meat was so perfectly cooked that it was almost melting in our mouth (despite it having been cooked well done – due to me being still not a huge fan of medium cooked meat). And the triple cooked chips were just self explanatorily crispy and tasty!

As our last course, we ordered Apple crumble which was again super delicious. Basically chocolate channeling an apple. White chocolate, caramel and vanilla ice cream, you can’t go wrong there!

Then we got these lovely petits fours, all equally tasty and freshly been baked.

The freshness, quality and portion sizes were all precise and dare I say perfect. The food certainly is not cheap, but for the most special occasions the menu and experience as a whole will not disappoint. Would we go back? Definitely yes!
